The Shala

We opened our doors as Ashtanga Yoga Shala in 2002 out of a dedication to teaching the Ashtanga Yoga system as it has been prescribed and taught by our teacher Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, R. Sharath Jois, of Mysore, India.

We keep our traditional Mysore-style classes small with a maximum of 16 practicing at one time to ensure that our students receive all the personal attention they require.

From our many years of diligent practice, continued study, and faithful teaching of this system we know it to be a powerful life-changing tool that brings greater peace and happiness to people who practice it.

We seek to empower each student on his or her individual journey towards self-knowledge within an environment that is physically and emotionally safe, non-competitive & non-judgmental.

It is with deepest respect for the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga and our faith and love for this practice that we teach our students in the most undiluted manner that we know...that is, just as our teachers have taught us.
