Mysore classes are the traditional way of learning Ashtanga Yoga and are named after the city in South India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the guru of Ashtanga Yoga, lived and taught for over 70 years. These classes offer students of all levels the most transformative way to learn the Ashtanga method.
In Mysore classes, students are taught individually within a group setting. They receive a level of one-on-one guidance, hands-on adjustments and personal attention that cannot be offered in a conventionally led class.
Students are taught the Ashtanga sequence pose-by-pose at a pace appropriate to their individual abilities. As they gain strength, stamina, flexibility and focus, poses are added on to their practice.
No previous yoga experience is necessary. All levels from absolute beginners to more seasoned students are welcome and will receive all the instruction they need from the teacher.
Mysore classes are scheduled in blocks of time where students can arrive at their own convenience provided they are finished by the end of class.
Mysore class is intended to be a daily practice, except for Saturdays and the days of the new and full moon.
