Mysore classes are the traditional way of learning Ashtanga Yoga and are named after the city in South India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the guru of Ashtanga Yoga, lived and taught for over 70 years. These classes are the most transformative way to learn and practice the Ashtanga method.
In Mysore classes, students are taught individually within a group setting. They receive a level of one-on-one guidance, hands-on adjustments and personal attention that cannot be offered in a conventionally led class.
Students are taught the Ashtanga sequence pose-by-pose at a pace appropriate to their individual abilities. As they gain strength, stamina, flexibility and focus, poses are added on to their practice.
